Wilsonville is a small hamlet located at the north end of Norfolk County. It was named after James Wilson, a Methodist minister, who settled here with his family in 1844.
The Wilsonville Methodist Church which later became the Wilsonville United Church, stills stand along with the church barn and outhouse.
The general store and stone schoolhouse are also still part of the hamlet but serve as private residences. These gathering places - church, general store, and school were so important to small villages everywhere.
